Course Description
The Winter Operations Initial Flight Crew Training was designed specifically to meet the needs of flight crew dealing with de-/anti-icing procedures in their ever-day work. The course is based on the SAE Training and Qualification Program for Deicing/Anti-icing of Aircraft on the Ground issued 2021/06 (AS6286) and EASA SIB No.: 2018-12.

Syllabus
The Winter Operations Initial Flight Crew Training contains the following chapters:
- The clean aircraft concept, regulations and recommendations
- Basic knowledge of aircraft performance
- Effects of frozen contamination on aircraft performance
- Meteorological considerations on ice formation
- Aircraft in general and common critical areas of surfaces and instruments
- General techniques for removing frozen deposits from aircraft surfaces
- Basic characteristics of aircraft deicing/anti-icing fluids
- Safety precautions and human factors
- Environmental impact and mitigation
- Deicing facility operation
- Types of fluid checks required and the equipment for this De-icing/Anti-icing by fluids - procedures in general
- Fluid application and the use plus the limitations of Holdover Time (HOT) tables
- Communication procedures and deicing/anti-icing code
- Local Frost Prevention
- Learning from season operations, audit findings and updated standards for next season
- Final Test
